As much as I'm all for waking up early in summer and giving my body positive vibes like doing meditation, the holidays are MY time to be lazy and do whatever the hell I want. If it's a good day I will get up and do some yoga and have a smoothie, but it's definitely a lie if I say that's how my summer goes. But here is my everyday summer routine, and obviously this is not the same everyday but here's a rough idea.
This is a collab with the lovely warmheartedsoul and she did her morning routine which you can check out here. It's super productive and I wish I could have the motivation to do all of that in the morning. I'm working on it :) I also made a youtube video with a slight different variation of my day.
This will be quite detailed just so you know. More like an itinerary than anything else actually. Also my times are so messed up in the holidays because I go to bed at different times and the times that I do things in the morning are normally different so I will just do roughly.
Wake up | 9:30ish
This is the same for my non-summer routine, but as soon as I wake up check the time on my clock and wait for the number to be rounded off. So if it's 9:46 I'll wait until 9:50 so I can get a few extra minutes in bed. I don't check my phone though, as I like to get out of bed and get ready first.
Get cleaned up | 9:35ish
Once I've gone to the toilet I brush my teeth and depending if I'm feeling particularly less lazy I'll have a shower before breakfast. I'm using a Cranberry flavoured shower gel which is meant to be used for winter but I don't care because it smells like Christmas. During the summer if I'm not going out I normally wear clothes that I don't wear out anymore and dresses that are more casual.
Breakfast | 9:45ish
Breakfast is the meal that I most enjoy having and I love having a more laid back breakfast in the summer. Even though it's summer, I don't have pancakes or amazing smoothies like everyone else seems to have on their summer morning routines. I will have it on the odd day or two but I generally have what I have on a normal day which is cereal, peanut butter and toast or muesli and yogurt. I will also have a glass of milk and banana which is what I have been taught to have for most of my childhood. After breakfast I will go and make my bed and open my blinds and then have a shower if I haven't already.
Low fat mixed berry yogurt with muesli and strawberries
Get refreshed & ready | 10:00ish
I don't like to wash my face and cream my face before I eat because I have this weird thing with my hands getting wet and then going super dry (don't worry about). The first thing that I do is wash my face with Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash. It smells so delicious and is really refreshing.
As you can see I've almost finished it because it's so nice!
Then I cream my face with Garnier Intensive 7 Days Rich Repairing Lotion. It's super hydrating and if you didn't have a shower I'm sure it would last for a long time. I'm not not having a shower for 7 days to test it though.
Now it's time to tackle the hair. I brush my hair with my hairbrush and normally I put it in a messy high pony or bun.
My lips also get more dry so I put on "Beeauty Lotion" that we got from the markets. It's effectively beeswax, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and essential oils. It tastes really nice and it makes my lips really soft and hydrated.
Since my grandparents have come I've been putting aloe vera on my face in the morning and the evening if I remember too. My grandma is always telling me ways to look after myself that don't use chemicals and that you can make at home, so I've been putting Aloe vera every time I remember to to hopefully clear my skin up a bit.
Getting on with the day
Once I've completely finished in the bathroom I make my bed and put away my clothes from the previous day.
Once I've gotten myself to a somewhat woken-up-and-ready-to-accomplish-the-day state, I have to decide what I'm going to do with myself for the day. Generally if I'm not going anywhere I will put some music on and either help my grandparents do whatever they are doing, do some of my holiday goals or watch some videos on youtube. Obviously I won't do these for the whole day but this is just what my morning could look like.
I might watch youtube videos for a while.
I might read books for a bit. These are some of the ones I am planning to read soon.
I always struggle finding something to do on the holidays which is part of the reason I wake up late so that some of the day has gone. The thing is though, I don't mind not having anything to do because my parents are always saying that we must get bored, but honestly I'm fine with just chilling and binge watching tv shows. I always feel bad though whenever other people other than my brother and I are with us because I feel bad for being stuck on electronics. So with my grandparents here I have to do all of the things I would do in the day time at night in my room which probably actually sounds so bad. If you struggle to find things to do in the holidays stay tuned for my next blog post ;)
Again, this may not be as organised as people who do yoga and go for walks everyday but it is my most consistent routine. I do workouts and yoga and beach walks as well on some days so let me know if you want to see that type of routine as well. Xx
